Rimini Street outlines Agentic AI ERP as the future of innovation
Wed, 29th Oct 2025
Rimini Street has published a white paper titled 'The Rise of Agentic AI ERP,' asserting that the era of traditional ERP software is ending and proposing Agentic AI ERP as its successor.
The document, created with input from more than 30 of Rimini Street's experts, details how companies can implement autonomous AI agents and low-code workflows as an overlay on current ERP systems.
This approach, according to the white paper, enables organisations to achieve innovation faster and at a lower cost, without needing to embark on expensive re-platforming or upgrades.
The white paper positions the current monolithic ERP software model as increasingly outdated.
It states that traditional ERP software has become too large, complex, inflexible, and costly to keep up with the pace of change demanded by modern businesses. Instead, the white paper articulates a pathway toward Agentic AI ERP-a model where automation and AI-driven agents orchestrate business processes across flexible, composable platforms.
Key recommendations include building on existing ERP frameworks by adding an Agentic AI layer, rather than replacing or upgrading core infrastructure. The paper highlights anticipated benefits such as significant reductions in labour costs and an accelerated deployment timeline, with value delivered in weeks rather than months or years.
Industry views
Seth Ravin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rimini Street, described the company's position on ERP's evolution.
"The Rise of Agentic AI ERP white paper represents the official Rimini Street position on the future of ERP. We believe ERP is evolving from a product to a process, and innovation should be efficiently layered over existing systems in a unified approach - not forced into disparate silos through costly upgrades. This paper is a blueprint for organisations to transform intelligently and efficiently."
This statement reflects the company's view that future ERP developments will focus on adaptability and cost-efficiency by leveraging existing technology investments, rather than introducing large and potentially disruptive changes.
The white paper outlines the limitations of the traditional ERP suite, suggesting that there is now "little value in any continued ERP upgrades or migrations". One of the core arguments presented is that businesses can maintain their current customised and stable ERP environments through at least 2040 by adopting Agentic AI ERP, avoiding the risk and investment associated with major migrations.
Agentic AI in the market
The report emphasises that Agentic AI ERP brings transformation without business disruption. With autonomous AI agents managing processes across different systems, Rimini Street argues this approach will help organisations achieve greater agility and measurable business outcomes more quickly.
The company claims that dozens of its clients are already pursuing the Agentic AI ERP approach, seeking to automate decisions, streamline workflows, and enable autonomous execution of routine tasks.
"The Rise of Agentic AI ERP white paper is a bold and compelling articulation of our unique vision and point of view from a company that specialises in ERP processes and systems," said Vijay Kumar, Chief Innovation Officer, Rimini Street.
"Dozens of leading organisations around the world have launched their 'Transformation without Disruption' Agentic AI ERP projects with Rimini Street, looking to embed AI use cases that automate decisions, streamline workflows and enable autonomous execution, and the business outcomes are already proving extraordinary. From faster, agentic workflows to enterprise-wide AI orchestration, business leaders are eagerly embracing Rimini Street's ERP, AI and business process expertise and services to speed ahead of competitors. This white paper is a must-read guide for both executives and practitioners who want to achieve greater profitability and growth in the age of Agentic AI."
Process over product
The white paper highlights a shift in perspective regarding ERP: from treating it as a static product to recognising it as an adaptable process. By deploying Agentic AI ERP on top of existing software, IT departments may be able to respond more rapidly to changing business needs with relatively low investment and risk.
The detailed roadmap laid out by Rimini Street recommends embracing autonomous agent-driven automation and low-code tools to unlock value and support digital transformation initiatives, all while maintaining current IT budgets and operational stability.
