Rubrik has announced the launch of Salesforce Data Protection, a new backup and recovery solution aimed at safeguarding data within the Salesforce Core Platform. Powered by Rubrik Security Cloud, the service intends to bolster data security and operational efficiency for organisations that rely on Salesforce for their business operations.
This development comes in the context of a recent projection by Gartner. The research firm estimates that by 2028, 75% of enterprises will prioritise the backup of SaaS applications, a sharp increase from 15% in 2024. Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik, highlighted this trend: "Many of the largest organisations in the world rely on Salesforce as their CRM app that powers their business operations, helping them drive revenue faster."
The new offering from Rubrik aims to address the risks of downtime and data loss, which can have widespread effects due to Salesforce’s role as a critical source of truth for numerous downstream applications. Rubrik’s solution is designed to help IT and security leaders quickly recover from incidents, reducing potential disruptions.

Rapid and Precise Recoveries: The solution optimises recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs) by allowing users to quickly identify the timing and cause of incidents. It facilitates the rapid recovery of lost records, including related records, ensuring accurate restoration to the correct point in time.
Superior Data Quality and Integrity: Rubrik aims to help organisations maintain data integrity. This is achieved through precise recovery methods that can pinpoint granular changes at the record level, ensuring the reliability of restored data and preventing the restoration of corrupted information.
Intuitive User Experience: The solution is designed to be user-friendly. Salesforce administrators can configure and manage backups with ease, reducing complexity while maintaining comprehensive data protection.
Ease of Management: Integrating seamlessly into Rubrik Security Cloud, the solution provides a unified approach to safeguarding data across Salesforce, other SaaS platforms, on-premises, and multi-cloud environments. This aims to ensure consistent security policies and faster response times, while also promising a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
"Salesforce users cannot risk costly downtime caused by accidental errors or cyber events that can trigger a cascading effect across their interconnected systems," Gupta added. The solution is built on a zero-trust architecture, which includes air-gapped, secure backups to protect against unauthorised access and ransomware attacks.
