SafeNet CTO: 'Physical security doesn't cut it'
Wed, 3rd Mar 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

As SafeNet launches new cloud solutions that it says ensures the security of sensitive data, the firm’s CTO, Russ Dietz, has said that physical security approaches of the past don’t cut it any longer.

In what it calls a response to customer demand and a step to removing the inhibitions of cloud adoption, SafeNet has released new data-centric security solutions to protect information stored in the cloud.

Intelligent Authentication Tokens are said to ensure that only authorised users gain access to cloud-based resources, while Secure Cryptographic Key Storage is described as a centralised security appliance that manages cryptographic keys, access control, and other security policies.

“In today’s dynamic cloud environments, the legacy physical security approaches of the past simply don’t cut it any longer,” said Russ Dietz, chief technical officer, SafeNet. “With proven solutions that offer granular, persistent security controls, SafeNet enables customers to fully leverage the business benefits of cloud computing – without having to make sacrifices in security.”
