Human Resources (HR) is to become the next business sector to be mobilised, with software giant SAP unveiling new mobile apps designed to enable HR-related activities on the go.

Two new apps are due to be made available in the fourth quarter of 2011, SAP Manager Insight and SAP Interview Assistant.

The former provides managers with quick access to HR data, reports and KPIs, as well as facilitating collaboration on HR topics, while the latter allows managers to access documents and capture information during interviews, and speeds up collaboration during the hiring process.

The apps add to others announced in May and due out at the same time, including a tool for creating and approving leave requests, another for filling out timesheets, and another providing quick access to employees’ details.

SAP Manager Insight and SAP Interview Assistant will be available on the iPad, while the others will run on the iPhone and Blackberry smartphones.

David Ludlow, group vice president, Human Capital Management for SAP, says the apps demonstrate SAP’s commitment to the mobile space.

"We are pleased to offer these apps to our customers, who in turn can help ensure the best possible enablement and support for their workforce,” Ludlow says.

SAP will host a free webinar on October 18 to introduce and demonstrate the apps. Go here to register.
