SAS expands managed services portfolio to Amazon Web Services
Fri, 19th Apr 2024

Data and artificial intelligence firm SAS has announced a significant expansion of its SAS-hosted managed services to Amazon Web Services. This strategic extension of SAS Managed Services portfolio provides customers with increased options for the deployment and management of their investments in industry-leading SAS technology and solutions.

SAS clients have consistently harnessed the benefits of SAS Viya as a cloud-neutral and cloud portal platform. With the new expansion, customers are not confined to their choice of cloud provider alone. They would also be able to select from a catalogue of cutting-edge products and solutions offered by SAS as a hosted managed service on AWS. Importantly, SAS will shoulder the responsibility of installing, configuring, securing, operating, and maintaining its platforms and solutions in the cloud environment. Hence, customers can entirely depend on SAS expertise right from the onset.

Jay Upchurch, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SAS, underscored the core motivation behind the SAS Managed Services. He said, "We designed SAS Managed Services to provide our customers with the best of SAS: our software, services, support and expertise."

Upchurch noted that the expansion reflects the company's determination to extend the full SAS Managed experience to AWS clientele. "That means that we're enabling even more of our customers to get the best SAS has to offer, in the way that works best for them, in their cloud of choice," he said.

Clients who opt for SAS Managed Services enjoy the plethora of benefits it offers. Of considerable consequence is the firm's capacity to bridge the gap between data and value with minimal administrative overhead and maximum uptime. Such an approach delivers added advantages like reduced costs, retirement of technical debt, and enhanced speed and security, thereby allowing customers to concentrate on critical aspects: innovation and tangible results.

The decision to broaden the scope of SAS-hosted managed services to AWS has been lauded by industry experts. Steve White, Program Vice President of Channels and Alliances at IDC, said, "The expansion of SAS-hosted managed services to AWS is a smart move that makes SAS available to more customers, giving those customers more choice with how they want to leverage data and AI within their organisations." He viewed this move as a clear reflection of SAS's steadfast commitment to its strategy and to addressing customers' unique needs.

The initiative simplifies the modernisation process for SAS latest customers and those planning to transition from SAS 9 to SAS Viya on AWS. The full spectrum of SAS products will be readily available on AWS, making it easier than ever for customers to harness the strengths of both formidable partners for the progress of their business.
