Signal launches AI-powered alert system for threat response
Signal Corporation, a New Zealand-based startup, has introduced a new software service that enables enterprises to monitor and receive alerts about potential threats to their operations in real time.
The service, named Global Feed, utilises artificial intelligence and processes data from numerous publicly available sources to deliver immediate intelligence on emerging threats. These threats may concern company executives, employees, physical locations, business continuity, or logistics.
Wayne Forgesson, CEO of Signal, highlighted the utility of Global Feed as a cost-effective and flexible security solution suitable for businesses potentially impacted by significant weather or natural disaster events, supply chain interruptions, cyber threats including ransomware attacks, civil unrest, or geopolitical activities. "Our business environment is increasingly impacted by environmental events and threat actors, from state groups and cyber criminals to the effects of civil disruption. Monitoring and responding to these threats is increasingly important not just for security professionals, but for C-suite leaders concerned about risk mitigation and business continuity for the whole organisation," stated Forgesson.
Recent years have seen numerous New Zealand organisations, including major fitness chains and the Waikato District Health Board, fall victim to ransomware cyber-attacks. Moreover, the 2022 protests at Parliament led to business closures and caused significant traffic and logistics disruptions in the nation's capital.
Forgesson noted the challenge of monitoring security threats that largely originate online, often within concealed communities or communication channels that present difficulties for traditional security tools. "Like the majority of our lives, security threats to businesses and the community are initiated online, often in hidden communities or communication channels that are difficult for private security professionals to monitor with existing tools," he said.
Global Feed functions as a web-based tool that detects emerging threats as they occur and can broadcast tailored alerts to security and communications teams almost instantaneously. "In our supercharged business and media environment, speed is everything in terms of reacting and mitigating threats. Access to information in real-time improves risk management for your personnel, your business and the community," Forgesson explained.
The service is currently available for early adopters in Australia and New Zealand, with Signal Corporation planning to extend its availability to enterprises worldwide in 2025.
