Mon, 17th Feb 2025

Simon Davies has been named as the new President for SAP Asia Pacific (APAC), a newly formed region within the company.

SAP has streamlined its operations by expanding in diverse markets such as Australia and New Zealand, Greater China, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. The company now manages 78 offices with over 31,000 employees throughout this region. Simon Davies, based in Singapore, will take charge of strategic and operational oversight, personnel management, sales, services, partner collaborations, and profitability for SAP across Asia Pacific.

This appointment follows the return of Paul Marriott to Europe, marking the end of his five-year tenure as President. Davies brings a wealth of experience, having worked for 25 years designing, selling, and implementing IT solutions in Asia Pacific. His career includes posts at major software companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle. Before this role, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Asia Pacific and Japan at Splunk.

The position offers Davies the responsibility for service provision to prominent clients such as NEC Corporation, Coles Group, Wipro, Fujitsu Limited, Shiseido, Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Corporation, Himalaya, Cochlear, and Japan Airlines across the APAC region.

Manos Raptopoulos, Chief Revenue Officer for APAC, EMEA, and MEE, commented on the transition stating, "Our next chapter is being fuelled by accelerated cloud and AI innovation, underpinned by our purpose, our people, and our partnerships. Simon combines experience in Asia's fast-growth, innovation-hungry markets with proven expertise in building high-performance, diverse, and inclusive teams. I'm confident that, under Simon, SAP APAC will build on the tremendous momentum established during Paul's leadership and continue to be a catalyst for innovation and supporting customer success."

In addition to his professional role, Davies serves on the board of several technology companies preparing for initial public offerings and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Simon Davies himself expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating, "I'm very excited for this new chapter to begin. Across Asia Pacific and Japan, we see forward-thinking businesses accelerating strategic transformation supported by SAP. Establishing a solid foundation in the cloud and leveraging business data is the gateway to exploring new avenues of growth in areas like artificial intelligence, data analytics, and sustainability."
