Information technology services Fronde took a different approach to inspiring CFOs to make the leap top cloud technologies last month, persuading five top executives to jump from the top of Auckland’s Sky Tower.

The jump, organised by Fronde and dubbed the “Cloud Jump” was part of the company’s 2014 CFO Summit campaign, focused on persuading IT decision-makers to embrace the cloud.

A total of five participants took part; including Frank Freemantle, AJ Park; Les Fleming, Auckland Museum; Anthony Wesney, Sheppard Cycles; Cameron Faulds, Westpac; and Michael Boggs, Tower Insurance.

Coincidentally, two hours after making the jump Boggs was announced CFO of the Year 2014, at the official CFO Awards dinner.

And if Boggs has set any type of standard – it’s that CFO’s have anything but unexciting times ahead, as he leapt from Auckland’s highest building.

“The jump acted as a nice little build up, I felt like a winner of two occasions,” Boggs says.

“Receiving the award was really a testament to whole team, it’s been a busy couple of years, the whole team is chuffed.”

Already a user of virtual servers, Boggs says he will continue to investigate more use of cloud technologies for the future.

When asked what would it take to make other CFOs take the leap, Boggs says; “If you can help CFO’s understand how the cloud benefits your customers, in turn growing revenue and addressing costs, then it’s an easy choice.”
