Slingshot catapults to broadband lead
Fri, 5th Oct 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Slingshot is enjoying a market lead in the broadband sector, according to the latest measurements from monitoring company Truenet.

According to the speed tests, the network provider's unlimited plan is performing as well as many company's capped plans, with chief technology officer Adrian Dick believing it to be because of "significant investment in bandwidth and caching".

TrueNet separated Slingshot's Capped vs Unlimited plans for the study, finding the plan to perform as well as the best ISPs for the most common capped plan while confirming the provider now offers the fastest broadband connection in New Zealand.

The results sees the company jump from fifth place to top spot, ahead of Vodafone, Telecom and TelstraClear respectively.

Slingshot's investment in their network appears to have paid off with an improvement seen across the board for both Surfing and Speed consistency.

Yet TelstraClear's cable service remains the fastest available across the country however, but is still only available in certain locations.
