SmartBear introduces Zephyr Scale with no-code automation

Mon, 15th Jul 2024

SmartBear has announced the availability of its Jira-native test management platform, Zephyr Scale, featuring no-code test automation via SmartBear HaloAI on the Atlassian Marketplace.

This development aims to streamline software quality by allowing testers to convert manual tests into automated ones without coding directly within Zephyr Scale.

The company has also introduced a new add-on, Zephyr Scale Automate, which is designed for teams looking to further advance their automation capabilities. This add-on supports advanced automated tests, cross-browser automated testing, email and SMS automated testing, and parallel testing.

“SmartBear is transforming testing by integrating HaloAI with manual testing, extending test automation to all,” said Dan Faulkner, Chief Product Officer at SmartBear. He added, “We’re leading the industry with a new approach to automation that’s available to all testers now. Zephyr Scale Automate enables a step-change in test automation to speed up releases and free up capacity in testing teams.”

By removing the need for test scripts, SmartBear is enabling even manual testers to create sophisticated automations, thus liberating more time for technical developers and allowing testing teams to allocate their resources more efficiently.

In its eight-week beta program, over 1,900 testers utilised the platform to complete more than 28,500 test runs. According to SmartBear, this has collectively saved thousands of hours by automating test cases without the need to write and debug scripts.

Nancy Gohring, Senior Research Director, AI at IDC, commented on the functionality, stating, “As GenAI is embraced across use cases in the enterprise, organizations are beginning to scrutinize the benefits and look for ROI beyond nominal productivity gains. When applied to the software development lifecycle, GenAI has the potential to deliver measurable value to the enterprise. When GenAI functionality speeds software delivery processes, scarce, highly skilled developers can spend more time on work that’s core to the business and deploy more software innovation that delivers business value.”

Zephyr has been a notable contributor to the Atlassian Marketplace since its launch, maintaining its status as one of the top-grossing add-ons. The platform offers essential test management solutions that integrate deeply with Jira, enabling teams to streamline workflows and enhance software quality through improved visibility and real-time metrics.

Zephyr Scale with no-code test automation and featuring HaloAI, along with Zephyr Scale Automate, are available for a free 30-day trial on the Atlassian Marketplace. They are priced on a per-user basis, depending on the Atlassian Jira user tier.

SmartBear continues to support software development teams around the globe, focusing on delivering quality and efficiency through AI-powered solutions. The integration of GenAI in the test management process signifies a step towards more accessible and efficient software testing practices, which could reshape the way teams handle automated testing in the future.
