Snom reveals M56 DECT for challenging work environments

Thu, 3rd Oct 2024

Snom has introduced its latest addition to the M5xx series, the M56 DECT device, designed for challenging work environments. The M56's robust build and IP67 certification ensure it is protected against dust, water, and other harsh conditions, making it suitable for workshops, construction sites, and outdoor areas.

The Berlin-based company highlights the M56's compact and robust design, complete with a rubberised, antibacterial surface for a secure grip and durability. Key features such as a 2.4-inch colour display and a large keypad make the device accessible even when users are wearing work gloves.

In terms of reliability in adverse conditions, the M56 comes with IP67 certification. This means that it is splash-proof and resistant to short immersions in water, as well as to dust and mud. The device is aimed at professionals working in environments where such features are crucial for smooth operation.

The M56 integrates seamlessly into Snom's M500 eco-system. Users can manage device settings via an M500 base station using zero-touch provisioning, and software updates are delivered wirelessly, ensuring the device remains current. Additional safety features include an integrated alarm button, a "man down" function, and a built-in torch, which enhance the device's suitability for lone workers.

With a talk time of 12 hours in high-definition audio quality and support for Bluetooth headphones, the M56 offers flexibility in long work shifts. It also includes "Shared Call Emulation" (SCE) and six functional keys that can be programmed according to the user's needs.

Oliver Wittig, Senior Application Manager at Snom, commented, "With the M56 we're offering a powerful and robust mobile phone that meets the requirements of demanding work environments and, at the same time, the highest level of user-friendliness. Like our other products in the M5xx series, the new M56 can be used flexibly and in particular enables operators of medium-sized warehouses, shops, and restaurants to benefit from cutting-edge telecommunications platforms and create a safe but flexible work environment."

The M56's notable features include protection class IP67 for dust- and waterproof qualities, advanced safety features like an alarm button and "man down" function, user-friendly attributes such as a large colour display and keypad, and enhanced flexibility with 12 hours of talk time and Bluetooth support.
