HP has launched 48Upper, which is described as the first social collaborative IT management solution to “fully embrace social networking and the power of the community directly within the processes that run IT”.

48Upper aims to provide IT professionals with the tools and knowledge to become more productive by “solving problems and finding solutions” more efficiently than ever before.

Specifically, HP says that it will offer new communication, collaboration and networking solutions to drive growth for small and midsize businesses. Its main function is to address the processes of running IT by using the collective knowledge of a community that's built directly into the service.

“HP 48Upper increases productivity for midsize businesses through an online service that enables IT professionals to manage across all the processes that make up IT – from project planning and operations to service management,” said the firm. “Built-in community features also make it easier to share best practices across an organisation”.
