Spark Digital focuses on cloud and data centres with new leadership
Spark Digital has today announced Mike Smith will join the company's leadership team in a newly created role as general manager for Cloud, Infrastructure and Data Centers, based in Auckland.
Reporting to CEO Tim Miles, Spark says Smith will have overall responsibility for the company's data centers, cloud professional services and the Revera business.
The appointment follow this week's earlier announcement that Chris Quin, Spark Home, Mobile and Business chief executive, is leaving the company after 25 years.
Smith is a senior executive with extensive experience in the ICT sector across Australasia. He currently holds several existing ICT board memberships, including Revera.
Prior to joining Spark Digital, Smith was chief executive at Oxygen Business Systems for ten years and before this held other senior executive roles at Jade Software Corporation and IBM New Zealand.
CEO Tim Miles says Smith's experience and knowledge of digital platforms combined with his deep understanding of cloud infrastructure will be a strong competitive advantage for Spark Digital.
"I am delighted to have a candidate of Mike's calibre join the Spark Digital leadership team," he says. "Mike is a well-respected and successful executive with well-honed leadership skills. His rapid career progression and the growth of the companies he has led is a testament to his success.
"He will play a key role as we focus on our own growth and our goal to be the leading digital provider in New Zealand," Miles adds.
Smith starts work at Spark Digital next week.
