Sat, 3rd Oct 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

A global survey by Axios Systems found that more than half of IT executives fail to deliver the value expected by the business and most are focused on cost reduction. The survey had more than 1500 IT professionals and found that 57% of IT executives believe that their IT systems, processes and services do not deliver the value expected by the business. And 64% of respondents said that they are unable to provide business and IT executives with quantifiable metrics demonstrating the value of IT services and assets in real-time.This led to 39% of respondents stating that business decision makers still do not understand the value IT brings to the business. Meanwhile, the focus for the majority of respondents (63%) was on projects where the principal driver is cost reduction, followed by change management and compliance. The major projects cited by respondents include: CMDB (22%), change management (19%) and service catalogue (18%) deployments. Overall, 16% of respondents were planning service desk upgrades or replacements. The survey and research were conducted in June and July and includes information gathered from a live webcast held by the company.
