Swann unveils AI home security voice assistant SwannShield
Swann, in collaboration with technology consultancy Thoughtworks, has introduced the SwannShield, an AI-powered home security voice assistant.
The partnership between Swann and Thoughtworks aims to enhance home security solutions by developing an AI-driven voice assistant that integrates with existing security devices such as video doorbells and cameras. This system is designed to interact with users in real-time, managing a variety of scenarios including deliveries and security threats.
Swann's Chief Executive Officer, Alex Talevski, stated, "Thoughtworks' pioneering contribution helped bring our idea of SwannShield to life and stress test the product in its critical initial phase. Thoughtworks' vital contribution in building the prototypes enabled us to progress our SwannShield product and launch it in the market."
He continued, "Through thoughtful design and careful consideration of user feedback, we aim to deliver an AI-driven voice assistant that seamlessly integrates into users' lives while providing enhanced protection and peace of mind. Representing an exciting step forward in the democratization of AI for everyday consumers, the SwannShield sets a new benchmark for intelligent home protection and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction."
The SwannShield is engineered to handle a range of conversational exchanges while maintaining security and privacy. Its architecture allows for adaptive updates and scalability, offering features such as personalized AI settings.
Peter Barnes, Head of Data and AI for APAC at Thoughtworks, highlighted the critical aspects of developing AI products, saying, "The SwannShield project demonstrates the importance of human-centered design principles and rigorous testing when developing AI-powered products."
Barnes remarked further, "Thoughtworks and Swann embarked on a journey of innovation and problem-solving to ensure that SwannShield can effectively respond to a wide range of scenarios, from deliveries, to intruders, to Halloween Trick or Treaters. By collaborating closely and leveraging our collective expertise, Swann and Thoughtworks overcame challenges to develop a solution that prioritizes both strong security and user experience."
The SwannShield was previously showcased at the Consumer Technology Association conference in Las Vegas, where it received recognition as an Honoree in the Smart Home category. Following this acknowledgment, Swann has now made the AI-enabled home security voice assistant available at no additional cost within the Swann Security App.
Initially compatible with the SwannBuddy4K Video Doorbell, the SwannShield requires an over-the-air download of updated firmware. Plans are in place to extend compatibility to further Swann products.
