Taking virtualisation to the next level

Fri, 1st Jul 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The challenge in getting optimum effect from a virtualisation solution will hinge on management and back-up.Karl Sice, general manager Pacific at the IT company Acronis, gives these tips to what to include as minimum objectives for the next phase of virtual backup and recovery:

  • Management of virtual, physical, and cloud environments must be common, all-encompassing, and highly integrated.
  • Virtualisation backup should be integrated in the design of the virtualisation plan - not as an afterthought.
  • Virtualisation should be used as a tool for Disaster Recovery and Disaster Recovery should always be integrally combined with Virtualisation.
  • Universal Migration for virtual machines between different server types should be the norm
