Tanium & ServiceNow launch new IT & security solutions

Tue, 14th May 2024

Tanium, a Converged Endpoint Management (XEM) vendor, has announced the launch of two new solutions in partnership with ServiceNow. The newly introduced Tanium ITX and Tanium Security Operations for ServiceNow are powered by the Now Platform and are set to transform IT and security operations by leveraging real-time data across the ServiceNow configuration management database (CMDB). This collaboration aims to help Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs), and IT leaders manage complex IT estate challenges through a streamlined and automated strategic platform.

The launch addresses the evolving challenges faced by CIOs and IT leaders, including technological advancements, shifting business priorities, tightening budgets, and growing cybersecurity threats. Traditionally, organisations have relied on multiple-point solutions to maintain and secure their corporate infrastructure and end-user devices. The absence of reliable reporting on software licenses often leads to higher costs and compliance issues. From a security standpoint, the ability to quickly reduce and remediate risk is impeded when root cause and downstream analysis are not efficiently determined. Hence, a precise, real-time CMDB is increasingly essential.

"The partnership between Tanium and ServiceNow gives our joint customers complete oversight across their entire IT estate, eliminating blind spots and maximising the value of their investments," said Shawn Gallagher, Vice President of strategic alliances at Tanium. "Tanium's real-time endpoint data is accurate at any scale, and unlike other joint solutions, it enables customers to quickly identify and resolve threats and vulnerabilities. This consolidation of tools reduces manual efforts and customisations, optimising expenditure."

Gallagher further stated, "Today's announcement underscores our commitment to delivering real-time visibility that provides our customers with a unified approach to managing their IT estate with speed, efficiency, and reduced risk."

The Tanium ITX for ServiceNow solution unifies IT Service Management, IT Asset Management, and IT Operations Management with a comprehensive and real-time CMDB. It provides broad visibility into hardware, software, and virtual asset inventories and usage, helping reduce unnecessary hardware and software expenditures. Moreover, it improves the mean time to investigate (MTTI) and mean time to remediate (MTTR) service level agreements (SLAs), enhancing the overall experience for IT agents, employees, and customers. By automating manual processes such as software deployments through a self-service software catalogue tied to procurement and approval workflows, the solution reduces time consumption significantly. Additionally, patch operations are automated to proactively secure the IT environment, adhering to planned change management processes.

Tanium Security Operations for ServiceNow aims to unify IT, security, and risk teams to proactively identify and manage risks arising from vulnerabilities, unauthorised changes, non-compliant configurations, and security incidents. The solution collects real-time vulnerability and compliance data, automates patch orchestration based on detected vulnerabilities, and provides IT and security teams with real-time endpoint data, enabling quicker remediation actions.

Binoy Gosalia, Vice President of Global Partnerships and Channels at ServiceNow, said, "As the security landscape rapidly evolves across enterprises, our partnership with Tanium is crucial in providing customers with complete, real-time visibility of their IT and security environments on a single connected platform. Integrating AI capabilities and automation will help organisations proactively identify vulnerabilities and remediate them directly from a preferred workspace, enhancing IT security operations and driving efficiency across the business. Together with Tanium, we look forward to increasing customer value through improved integration from both strategic platforms."
