Telecom takes on 2degrees with senior phone

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Telecom has unveiled Telecom R203, a cheaper alternative handset to the newly released 2degrees senior phone.

Following the launch of the Alcatel OT-536 from 2degrees, the telco rival has launched their own version, branded as a "mobile phone that is easy to use, easy to see and easy to hear."

Telecom says the handset offers an extensive list of features and a ‘smart key’ to provide peace of mind for users, along with large buttons, a large screen with three adjustable font sizes and a loud speaker.

Through use of the ‘smart key’, users can clicking red switch at the back of the phone to set off an alarm, call one nominated number and send text messages to four friends or family members.

“We think this phone will be very popular this Christmas," says Jason Paris, Telecom chief marketing officer.

“Its features are extensive.  It has a built-in torch, an FM radio that doesn’t require a headset, an organiser for setting alarms or reminders – it is even designed to be compatible with Tcoil hearing aids.

“We also expect it to be snapped up by parents who might be looking for something that the kids can throw in their schoolbags, or for anyone with family and friends who are interested in technology but like to keep life simple.”
