Teradata AI Unlimited now in private preview with Microsoft Fabric

Wed, 22nd May 2024

Teradata has announced that its on-demand AI/ML workload, Teradata AI Unlimited, is now available in private preview within Microsoft Fabric. This new integration is designed to provide seamless, on-demand access to ClearScape Analytics, empowering users to explore, discover, and develop new AI innovations and use cases. The announcement was made during Microsoft Build, highlighting the collaboration between the two companies.

Key features of the new service include the ability to measure marketing effectiveness across various channels, identify prospective customers, increase revenue through seamless conversions, and quickly eliminate friction points. These capabilities are expected to drive significant efficiencies and innovation in AI applications.

Daniel Spurling, Senior Vice President, Product Management at Teradata, expressed that the integration continues Teradata's commitment to fostering AI innovation within the developer community. He noted that the initial unveiling of AI Unlimited took place at Microsoft Ignite in Q4 2023 as part of an original design partnership. Since then, Teradata has been working closely with Microsoft Fabric to ensure smooth integration of AI Unlimited within the platform.

Teradata AI Unlimited offers a low-commitment, pay-as-you-go user experience, and its integration with Microsoft Fabric further reduces user adoption friction. The Microsoft Fabric environment enhances developer productivity through an intuitive, self-service interface that allows direct access to creating new notebooks, exploring analytic use cases, and developing AI models and visualisations. Additionally, AI Unlimited can leverage data stored in Microsoft Fabric OneLake.

Dipti Borkar, Vice President & General Manager at Microsoft, commented on the significant benefits of combining the analytics capabilities of both Teradata and Microsoft. This integration is expected to enable rapid AI experimentation and innovation, allowing organisations to deploy analytics effectively and deliver actionable insights in a shorter time frame.

The new workload in Microsoft Fabric includes several pre-built use cases within an embedded notebook seamlessly connected to ClearScape Analytics. These use cases include financial customer journey analysis, which empowers users to understand and enhance customer interactions through data harmonisation, machine learning, AI, and analytics. It enables users to analyse millions of digital and in-person touchpoints, measure marketing effectiveness, identify prospective customers, and create more authentic customer experiences.

Additionally, the AI Unlimited workload addresses customer behaviour analysis by providing insights into customer data stored in disconnected silos or large volumes. This feature helps increase revenue through seamless conversions, drive sales via new leads, reduce operational costs, and quickly eliminate friction points.

For customer segmentation, Teradata AI Unlimited uses scalable native processing functions, enabling the creation of optimal customer segments with advanced AI/ML techniques. These segments can be utilised for various marketing tasks or further predictive analytics applications.

Data preparation is another highlighted feature. The AI Unlimited workload leverages Teradata VantageCloud's massively parallel processing architecture and over 150 native functions to create rapid, seamless, and repeatable data transformation pipelines. Prepared data can be integrated directly with Azure services, reducing data preparation time by 70% or more.

The AI Unlimited workload in Microsoft Fabric will be available in private preview in June 2024, providing organisations with the tools and capabilities to drive AI innovation and operational excellence.
