Teradata & AWS enhance AI integration with VantageCloud

Yesterday

Teradata has announced an enhanced collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer "rapid-start" generative AI use-cases through the integration of Teradata VantageCloud with Amazon Bedrock.

The integration allows enterprise customers to swiftly implement generative AI models of their choosing, accessing high-performing foundational models from various leading AI companies, including AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Cohere, Meta, Mistral AI, Stability AI, and Amazon.

This development aims to streamline the adoption of generative AI technologies across various sectors.

A survey conducted for Teradata by NewtonX has shown that a significant 84 percent of AI executives anticipate seeing tangible outcomes from AI projects within a year of their deployment.

Teradata and AWS's integration seeks to meet these expectations by enabling rapid and efficient deployment of AI use-cases, supporting organisations in achieving accelerated return on investment (ROI) from their AI ventures.

The collaboration provides over 60 generative AI use-cases across multiple functions and industries, designed to enhance customer experiences, increase employee productivity, and optimize business operations.

Customers of Teradata can leverage VantageCloud's APIs and integration capabilities, enabling seamless access to Amazon Bedrock's foundational models with their stored data, purportedly allowing for scalable and cost-effective deployment of AI solutions.

Senior Vice President of Product Management at Teradata, Dan Spurling, stated, "Our customers seek to expedite the return on their AI investments by efficiently and cost-effectively deploying business solutions, leveraging Generative AI, into production."

"On the heels of our recent BYO-LLM announcement, this integration with Amazon Bedrock continues our momentum in the Gen AI space and underscores Teradata's commitment to being the most powerful, open and connected analytics and data platform for AI - giving customers the flexibility and choice they desire, to implement their generative AI strategies."

As a part of this initiative, the teradatagenai python package is employed, offering multiple user-friendly functions that simplify API interactions for frequently used text analytics scenarios.

When combined with Amazon Bedrock, this allows several practical Gen AI use cases, such as quicker retail item discovery, insurance contract retrieval, and customer complaint analysis, enabling the delivery of concrete business value.

This integration with Amazon Bedrock is scheduled to be available by the second quarter of 2025, enhancing Teradata's offerings within the AWS Marketplace and providing joint customers with an improved procurement experience linked to AWS expenditure commitments.
