TerraPay launches Xend to link wallets, banks & cards globally

Tue, 25th Nov 2025

TerraPay has launched Xend, a payments interoperability network aimed at providing seamless cross-border transactions for wallet users around the world. The new network enables wallet holders to access a global infrastructure that links wallets, banks, and card networks via a single platform.

Network reach

Xend allows users to send and receive payments to and from 11,500 banks connected through the Swift network. The platform also enables payments at over 150 million acceptance points worldwide, using existing wallet applications. According to TerraPay, Xend is currently live with more than 200 million active wallet users and has the technical ability to scale up to 3.7 billion wallet endpoints.

Cross-border capabilities

Through its partnership with Swift, Xend facilitates real-time money transfers between mobile wallets and the formal financial system. The collaboration is intended to make international transactions as straightforward as domestic ones, with access extended to digital wallets, banks, and traditional card networks.

"In mobile networks, roaming transformed how people connected, it made communication borderless. With Xend, we're bringing that same freedom to money movement," said Ambar Sur, Founder & CEO, TerraPay. "We want every wallet to roam globally, just like mobile phones do, to pay, receive, and spend anywhere, without friction or boundaries. By partnering with Swift, we're building a truly open and interoperable financial fabric that connects the digital economy to the formal financial system - at scale."

Merchant access

The new platform enables digital wallets and super-apps to offer their customers access to international merchant networks without requiring additional infrastructure or separate integrations. This transformation turns domestic wallets into globally connected financial instruments, making it easier for users to participate in online and retail commerce across different countries.

Simplifying integration

By serving as a universal infrastructure layer, Xend removes the need for wallet providers to manage bilateral integrations with banks and card issuers in each market. Instead, providers can connect to a single network that supports transactions between multiple payment channels, including banks, cards, and wallets.

Compliance and security

Compliance and regulatory requirements remain a priority for TerraPay and its partners. Xend is positioned as an infrastructure capable of supporting instant payments that are also compliant with local and international financial regulations.

"Swift has long championed interoperability as a cornerstone of global financial connectivity." said Juan Martinez, Global Head of Payments Services, Swift. "Working with TerraPay aligns with our mission to enable instant, secure, and inclusive cross-border transactions, bringing the power of the Swift network to millions of wallet users worldwide."
