Trend Micro boosts AI security with NVIDIA integration
Trend Micro has unveiled a new solution integrating NVIDIA NIM microservices into its Trend Vision One Sovereign and Private Cloud. This development seeks to enable organisations, including governments and critical infrastructure groups, to use AI while maintaining data sovereignty and meeting stringent compliance requirements across 175+ countries. The integration aims to provide robust security across various environments, such as cloud, on-premises, and AI data centres.
Srujan Talakokkula, Managing Director, ANZ Commercial at Trend, noted the importance of secure innovation. "We are not just adapting to an AI-driven world: we are creating it, helping to ensure that any team can securely innovate without elevating risk. New technology implemented appropriately should improve business resilience rather than impair it. Just as we did with the advent of cloud security, we are pioneering AI for security and security for AI," he said.
The offering incorporates the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, which, according to Justin Boitano, Vice President of Enterprise Products at NVIDIA, "provides the performance, reliability, and security needed for advanced data protection and operational efficiency." Boitano added, "Enterprises and governments are seeking ways to securely integrate AI into mission-critical systems while maintaining full control of proprietary data."
Adopting new technology is often fraught with challenges, particularly for organisations with strict data sovereignty and privacy standards. Trend Micro recognises the risks associated with shortsighted integration strategies, which can lead to misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, or data breaches. The collaboration with NVIDIA aims to develop secure methods for generative AI, enabling long-term transformations without compromising security.
A leading technology provider involved in supporting systems across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland emphasised the importance of secure AI implementations. Speaking under anonymity, the representative stated, "Organisations around the world that are required to maintain the most stringent data sovereignty and privacy requirements often cannot use public cloud-based AI. Now get the best of both worlds. These offerings are setting a new standard for securing AI implementations, and we are excited to be a part of this journey."
Trend Micro's approach to AI security involves understanding infrastructure changes, user behaviours, and operational needs to safeguard data against both known and unknown risks. The technology is certified to meet compliance requirements globally, making it adaptable to various security regulations and protective of data sovereignty. The collaboration includes platforms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, ensuring broad applicability for different environments.
Alex Yeh, CEO at GMI Cloud, an AI technology partner with Trend Micro, highlighted the unprecedented security capabilities brought forward by the integration. "We have yet to see anyone introduce security capabilities at this level for AI technology. We value the ability to use the same AI security rules and platform to manage customers' AI data tools across any environment," said Yeh.
Trend's Vision One Companion, an AI assistant leveraging NVIDIA NIM microservices, aims at proactive threat detection and response, as well as sensitive data protection, even in highly secured environments. Customers using Trend Vision One platform benefit from extended detection and response (XDR) models capable of processing and classifying larger volumes of user data for faster threat and anomaly detection. This improves the focus of human analysts on significant events by filtering out less important data.
With the integration of NVIDIA AI platform — including NVIDIA NIM microservices and the NVIDIA Morpheus cybersecurity framework — Trend Micro addresses current demands from enterprises, governments, and critical infrastructure organisations. This integration ensures reliable and effective AI implementation and operations while maintaining high levels of data security and privacy.
