Trend Vision One tops Forrester ranking for network security tools

Fri, 17th Oct 2025

Trend Micro has been recognised as a Leader in Network Analysis and Visibility (NAV) solutions by Forrester, with its Trend Vision One platform ranked highest for its current offering among 12 evaluated vendors.

Market evaluation

Forrester's independent market evaluation assessed NAV solutions providers, focusing on features like threat detection, compliance monitoring, usability, and customisability. According to the analyst firm's report, Trend Vision One received the top score in the "current offering" category.

Trend Vision One combines Network Detection and Response (NDR) with Cyber Risk Exposure Management (CREM). The platform aims to improve visibility across networks, endpoints, identities, email, cloud, and data, enabling faster response and deeper investigations.

Key platform capabilities

The Forrester report highlighted several aspects of the Trend Vision One offering. Among the cited capabilities are its ability to provide, "Outstanding threat detection capabilities across east-west and north-south traffic via a best-of-breed approach." This refers to its detection capability for both internal and external network traffic, an important consideration for organisations seeking comprehensive security coverage.

The platform's usability was also noted by Forrester, which stated that "Intuitive workflow and threat-hunting capabilities [which] perform custom investigations and visualisations" are present in Trend Vision One. In addition, its adaptability was underscored by the comment on "Extensive customisability in its detection logic due to its rich telemetry."

Compliance monitoring was another area of strength, with the report noting "Highly robust" compliance monitoring, "supporting a wide range of frameworks and allowing the creation of custom frameworks." Role-based access control was identified as a further feature, as Trend Vision One supports "granular administration for RBAC."

Addressing security needs

Mick McCluney, ANZ Field CTO at Trend, highlighted the importance of network-based visibility for modern organisations. He said:

"As organisations accelerate cloud adoption, IoT integration, and AI-driven innovation, the need for deep, network-based visibility has never been greater. Through our platform, Trend empowers customers to reduce risk exposure, detect and respond faster, and enforce Zero Trust across their entire organisation before threats escalate."

Trend Vision One features CREM, which is designed to continuously discover assets, assess risk in real time and automate mitigation to proactively lower an organisation's cyber risk exposure.

The platform also provides what Trend describes as "XDR for Complete Visibility", correlating telemetry across multiple vectors-endpoints, networks, identities, email, and cloud-helping facilitate faster detection and response to security threats.

Report's enterprise recommendations

The Forrester report commented on the user base best suited to Trend Micro, observing that, "Trend Micro is best suited to enterprises with budget or resource constraints as well as current customers that want a unified, 'single pane of glass' experience."

Forrester stated that its research process is independent and does not constitute an endorsement for any vendor, product, or brand assessed in its publications.

Industry context

The recognition comes at a time when many organisations are looking for improved network traffic analysis, risk management, and threat detection, particularly as cloud adoption increases and network architectures become more complex. The emphasis on compliance frameworks and detective controls addresses regulatory challenges faced by many enterprises in sectors ranging from finance to healthcare.

Trend Micro states that it continues to focus on expanding the role of AI, automation, and integration across multi-cloud and hybrid environments in its security suite, aiming to support organisations as they face evolving cyber risks.
