Vendors selected for govt managed services panel

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Gen-i, Datacom Systems and Fujitsu New Zealand have all been appointed as vendors on a government IT managed services procurement panel, following a project led by the Ministry of Primary Industries (formerly MAF).

The MPI itself has selected Fujitsu, which will take over from Unisys as the Ministry’s managed service provider from November 1, but all three companies will be in the running for future projects with other government agencies.

The selection took place with input from both MPI and the Ministry of Economic Development, which has been responsible for negotiating All-of-Government contracts for products like computers, printers and most recently mobile services and data, as well as vehicles, air travel, legal services and office consumables.

Fujitsu New Zealand managing director Jo Healey says she applauds the MPI for developing the ‘visionary’ IT managed services procurement brief.

"The panel agreement will cost-effectively provide the latest technologies to underpin the services provided by New Zealand’s public sector agencies,” Healey says.

Financial details of Fujitsu’s deal with the MPI have not been disclosed, but the contract will last for four years, with an option to extend for another three.
