Visionplatform.ai adds AI agents to Milestone XProtect

Fri, 16th Jan 2026

Visionplatform.ai has launched an AI agent suite that integrates with Milestone XProtect, adding on‑premise generative AI and agent-based software inside security control rooms.

The product, called the Visionplatform.ai Agent Suite for Milestone XProtect, runs within Milestone-based environments and keeps video on local infrastructure. Visionplatform.ai said the suite adds reasoning, context and assisted decision-making on top of existing video analytics and event handling.

Control room teams often manage growing numbers of camera feeds and alerts, alongside data from other operational systems. Video analytics can flag activity, but operators still need to review footage, interpret incidents and follow procedures under time pressure.

Visionplatform.ai said its suite introduces three AI agents that work inside the Milestone XProtect platform. The company positioned the software as an extension of video management workflows rather than a replacement for existing systems.

Three agents

The first component is the Visionplatform.ai VLM Agent, which the company described as an on‑premise generative AI "Vision Language Model". Visionplatform.ai said the agent transforms video and audio into a text-based representation of events.

Visionplatform.ai noted that this approach changes how operators search and review footage. It said operators can use natural language to search across cameras and time periods. It also said the agent can identify behaviours, actions, patterns and anomalies, including cases where no explicit model was trained for the scenario.

Visionplatform.ai said the VLM Agent supports forensic search and incident reconstruction. It also mentioned that the processing runs fully on‑premise and does not send video to the cloud.

The second component is the Milestone VMS AI Agent. Visionplatform.ai said the agent exposes data from Milestone XProtect to AI agents in real time. It said the agent provides structured access to events, metadata, bookmarks, camera states, rules and device information through the Milestone API.

Visionplatform.ai described this component as a way to use XProtect as a central system for AI-driven workflows. It emphasised data access across the video management system and connected devices.

The third component is the Visionplatform.ai Control Room AI Agent, which the company said is in beta. Visionplatform.ai described it as an orchestration layer that combines events from Visionplatform, context generated by the VLM, control room software and data from Milestone XProtect.

Visionplatform.ai said the Control Room AI Agent can connect beyond video systems. It can connect with access control systems, alarm and incident management platforms, building management systems and operational databases. It said these systems act as real-time data sources for AI agents.

Deployment model

Visionplatform.ai said it designed the suite for enterprise and critical infrastructure environments. It cited data sovereignty, latency and reliability as key requirements in those settings.

The company mentioned the suite supports full on‑premise deployment. It also said no video streams to the cloud. Visionplatform.ai stated that the software works with existing Milestone XProtect installations. It also said the software can run on systems with as few as two GPUs.

Milestone ecosystem

Milestone XProtect is widely used as a video management platform in security and surveillance deployments. Milestone has promoted an open platform approach through APIs and integrations with third-party hardware and software suppliers.

Visionplatform.ai framed the launch as a joint effort that builds on that integration model. The company said the combined setup adds another intelligence layer inside XProtect environments and changes how operators interact with video and events.

"This collaboration shows how AI agents and GenAI can elevate video management systems into true decision-support platforms for control rooms. With virtualworkforce.ai, another group company of visionplatform.ai, we already operate AI agents at scale, handling more than 500,000 emails per week in mission-critical business processes. We are now bringing that same proven AI agent architecture for control rooms and operational experience into Milestone-powered control rooms," said Koen de Jong, Founder & CEO of visionplatform.ai.

Milestone highlighted the on‑premise model and data control. "By leveraging Milestone's open platform, partners and customers can extend their XProtect environments with advanced, on-prem AI capabilities, while maintaining full control over their data," said Roy Band, Community Manager at Milestone Systems.

Visionplatform.ai said it plans to demonstrate the Agent Suite in Dubai at Intersec on the Milestone Systems booth, including scheduled demonstrations and control room scenarios.
