Vodafone admits 3G faults

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Vodafone has held its hands up over a recent crop of problems with missed calls and delayed text messages.

In a statement on its website, the company said, “Vodafone acknowledges the current network issues that some customers are experiencing on their 3G mobiles, and we are working around the clock towards a resolution.”

The issue was said to be the 3G cell site network and the way it communicates with 3G mobiles during and after active data sessions.

Vodafone said the effects were intermittent but customers may experience one or all of the following:

  • Missed calls and delayed texts while in coverage
  • Unable to make calls until the phone is powered off and on
  • Unable to set up 3G data sessions
“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. We will keep you updated as the situation changes,” said the company.
