FYI, this story is more than a year old

Vodafone New Zealand acquired 19,000 Kiwi customers during the second quarter, bucking the previous trend spanning nine consecutive quarters.

Released by the company's global division, the NZ arm of the organisation now has 2.326 million customers as of June 30, representing a jump from 2.307 million three months prior.

Vodafone NZ, fresh from announcing 4G plans in February this year, did however suffer a 2.3% fall in the number of pre-paid customers - coming in at 64.4%.

After buying TelstraClear for $840 million in October 2012, the company lost a huge 50,000 customers through out the country during the second quarter of last year, representing a dramatic shift in fortunes for the telco.

Following the introduction of 2degrees to the Kiwi market, both Vodafone and Telecom have been hit with over a million customers jumping ship - as the telco industry becomes more crowded.

But results of Vodafone's last three months will keep company bigwigs happy, safe in the knowledge they have finally arrested a worrying customer decline.
