Wavelink to distribute Acromove edge-cloud systems in ANZ

Mon, 30th Mar 2026

Acromove has appointed Wavelink as its distributor across Australia and New Zealand, taking its portable edge-cloud systems to regional channel partners.

The arrangement targets organisations that need to run AI inference and other operational workloads closer to where data is generated, particularly in remote and field-based settings. Wavelink will recruit partners, provide pre- and post-sales support, and run education programs around edge-cloud and private 5G in the local market.

Acromove focuses on portable edge-cloud infrastructure and private 5G. Its systems are built for field deployment rather than conventional rack-based installations, and the company says units can be up and running in 10 to 15 minutes at about one-third of the cost of traditional rack-based edge deployments.

The move comes as businesses in Australia and New Zealand assess the practical limits of sending large volumes of data back to centralised data centres or public cloud systems. In sectors with remote sites, long distances and patchy connectivity, latency, resilience, privacy and operating costs have become central factors in edge computing decisions.

Under the agreement, Wavelink will build a partner network around the Acromove offering across sectors including critical infrastructure, utilities, resources, industrial operations, emergency response, field services and remote facilities. The platform is also aimed at mobile and temporary deployments that require rapid set-up.

Acromove says its platform can be used where secure connectivity is limited, allowing organisations to establish a private 5G network for devices such as cameras, drones and mobile endpoints. It describes the set-up as a local environment for compute and communications in the field.

The deal also expands Wavelink's portfolio in networking, mobility and cybersecurity-related technologies. Part of Infinigate Group, the distributor says the relationship aligns with its focus on operational environments where business continuity and secure communications are priorities.

Acromove Chief Executive Officer George Katiniotis said Australia and New Zealand were a strong fit for the company's expansion.

"Industries are moving into an era where AI inference and AI agents need to run somewhere reliable, secure and close to operations, not just in a distant cloud. We see portable edge-cloud as a new category, and our strategy is to scale through a strong partner ecosystem that can package complete solutions for customers. With ANZ's vast distances and remote operations, it's the ideal environment for this market shift," said Katiniotis.

"Acromove's edge-cloud form factor is designed from the ground up to reduce cost and complexity while enabling new use cases where speed, resilience and sovereignty matter. Education is crucial because many organisations don't yet know what's possible at the edge until they see it in action," added Katiniotis.

Remote demand

The companies are targeting industries where on-site decision-making is critical and where sending specialist staff to service infrastructure may be difficult or expensive. Acromove argues that a more portable model can reduce site visits and lower operating expenditure by limiting cloud data transfer and simplifying local deployment.

That message is likely to resonate in industries such as mining, utilities and emergency services, where connectivity can be inconsistent and systems may need to keep running even when links to central infrastructure are disrupted. Portable edge systems have also drawn interest from organisations that want to process sensitive data locally for privacy or sovereignty reasons.

Wavelink Chief Operating Officer Nick Touzeau outlined how the distributor sees the fit with its existing channel strategy.

"Wavelink is building an ecosystem of technologies designed to support environments where resilience, security and operational continuity are non-negotiable. Acromove adds a highly differentiated edge-cloud capability to our portfolio, giving partners a practical way to bring compute, connectivity and AI inference closer to the field, with a plug-and-play model that reduces complexity and speeds up deployment," Touzeau said.

Ecosystem support

The partnership also includes support from Orro, which is working with both companies on field-based customer and partner use cases. This points to a broader ecosystem approach, with the distributor, vendor and services specialists combining around deployments in operational technology and remote environments.

For channel partners, the opportunity will depend on whether customer interest in edge AI and private 5G turns into live projects. Many organisations are still testing where local processing makes operational and financial sense, particularly as they compare edge investment with public cloud use and existing networking spend.

"Edge capability is becoming critical infrastructure, especially across remote sites where the cost and complexity of traditional approaches can be prohibitive. Acromove's approach gives partners a new way to package and deliver edge compute and private networking in a form factor designed for speed, resilience and real-world operations," said Stuart Long, Chief Technology Officer at Orro.
