WEL Networks selects Huawei

Huawei New Zealand has been selected to provide Fibre to the Home access network technology as part of WEL Networks’ Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) build in the central North Island.

Julian Elder, CEO for Ultrafast Fibre Limited (UFL) – a special entity created by WEL Networks for the UFB build – says he was impressed by the company’s strong performance throughout the robust selection process.

"Huawei’s global experience in providing solutions for open access networks is matched by a solid understanding of the local area needs of New Zealand,” Elder says, "including its proven track record in deploying national broadband fibre networks around the world.

UFL’s network build will include Hamilton, Tauranga, Tokoroa, New Plymouth, Hawera, Wanganui, Te Awamutu and Cambridge.
