New Zealand's traditional PC market sees a surprising 1.1% YoY growth in Q2 2019, recovering from an earlier decline, but challenges loom ahead.

The global PC market saw a surprising 4.7% growth in Q2 2019, as easing supply shortages and trade tensions boosted shipments, reports IDC.

Australia will see a 3.1% increase in IT spending, while NZ should expect 2.3%. This is compared to global growth of just 0.6%.

In the worldwide PC market, global shipments were above expectations, reaching 58.5 million during the last quarter.

PC shipments are set to decline by 0.6% in 2019, while mobile phone market is expected to return to growth in 2020, according to Gartner.

Pockets of growth, both in segments and geography, will persist, particularly in Asia Pacific, one of two regions to avoid shipment declines in 2019.
