Boomi named leader in Forrester adaptive orchestration

Boomi has been named a Leader in Forrester's Adaptive Process Orchestration Software evaluation and received the highest score in the strategy category among 13 providers.

The assessment placed Boomi among the four companies designated as Leaders in the study, which examined software used to adapt and manage automated processes as business demands change.

Forrester said Boomi's "above-par roadmap" was shaped by an internal innovation process informed by partner input and customer feedback. It also said recent investment had focused on client data sovereignty and control in markets where those issues carry particular weight.

The analyst firm also highlighted Boomi's vendor-neutral control plane for agentic automation, saying it had helped the company expand into the process automation market. It linked that view to acquisitions including Lunar.dev, an AI gateway platform.

Assessment criteria

In the evaluation, Boomi received the highest possible scores in six areas: design environment, adaptivity architecture, innovation, roadmap, adoption, and operational observability, control, and governance. That contributed to the top score in the broader strategy category.

Forrester also wrote that "Boomi has all the required features to adapt automated processes to demand changes rapidly and comprehensively, including LLM swapping and fine-grain data access changes."

The finding reflects growing demand for tools that can adjust workflows without extensive redevelopment, particularly as businesses test how to govern artificial intelligence agents, application integrations, and data access policies in the same environment.

Boomi said its platform combines agent design and governance, API and MCP management, integration and automation, and data management. It positions that structure as a way for organisations to coordinate processes across applications, data, APIs, and AI agents while retaining choice over vendors and models.

Forrester's review also highlighted the company's low-code development environment, citing features including DevOps integration, embedded context management, audit logging, and unified monitoring.

Market context

The ranking comes as technology suppliers try to define a market around adaptive and agentic process orchestration, where companies are expected not only to automate tasks but also to revise and govern those processes as conditions shift. In that market, product strategy and governance features are emerging as key points of competition alongside development tools.

Data sovereignty has also become a more prominent buying consideration, especially for multinational organisations operating in jurisdictions with stricter rules on where information is stored and processed. Forrester's reference to sovereignty suggests that control over data location and access is becoming more central to how orchestration platforms are judged.

Boomi has been expanding its message beyond integration software into broader automation and AI management. It says its platform is intended to provide a foundation for what it calls the "agentic enterprise", a term increasingly used by software vendors to describe organisations deploying AI agents across business processes.

The mention of Lunar.dev shows how acquisitions are being used to fill gaps in AI oversight and traffic management. AI gateway software has drawn attention as businesses seek ways to monitor model use, enforce policy, and route requests across different systems.

Boomi said it serves more than 30,000 customers and works with more than 800 partners. Those figures underline the scale at which it is trying to compete as software vendors seek a larger share of spending on AI governance, workflow automation, and integration.

The evaluation's emphasis on observability, control, and governance also points to the practical concerns shaping adoption. Forrester said Boomi's platform provides a rich low-code development environment with above-par features including DevOps integration, embedded context management, audit logging, and unified monitoring.
