A kiwi software boss is in training to take on one of the world's most well-known public sporting events, the ING New York City marathon.

Author-it CEO and founder Paul Trotter is in daily training for the event, to be held on November 6.

The Aucklander is running with sponsorship group Team For Kids, which raises money to provide health and character-building programmes to children in low-income schools and community centres in New York City, other parts of the USA, and South Africa.
