Brightcove unveils AI Suite for enhanced video engagement

Fri, 13th Sep 2024

Brightcove has announced the introduction of the Brightcove AI Suite, a new collection of AI-powered solutions aimed at transforming video technology and enhancing engagement.

The suite will include five solutions: AI Content Multiplier, AI Universal Translator, AI Metadata Optimizer, AI Engagement Maximizer, and AI Cost-to-Quality Optimizer.

These capabilities were developed in collaboration with Brightcove customers to address varying needs, from content creation and audience engagement to revenue growth and improved operational efficiency. The AI Suite will be integrated into Brightcove’s existing video cloud platform, allowing customers to optimise their content strategies and processes within the same ecosystem.

"Generative AI is transforming how companies create content and how users engage, and we believe it will drive a boom in video content and its consumption," said Marc DeBevoise, CEO of Brightcove. "To enable our customers to take full advantage of these next-generation creation and engagement capabilities, we are enhancing our platform with a suite of AI-driven solutions to deliver on these opportunities."

The Brightcove AI Suite utilises Generative AI models from Anthropic, AWS, and Google. Additionally, Brightcove is integrating AI solutions from partners such as CaptionHub and Frammer. This collaboration aims to help customers enhance their video content and engagement while reducing costs.

The suite will focus on four areas: content creation, content management and optimization, content engagement and monetization, and quality and efficiency.

In content creation, the AI Content Multiplier will help customers quickly create more videos by automating tasks like reformatting, auto-clipping, auto-summarisation, and creating highlight reels. The AI Universal Translator will enable accurate translations across 130 languages and dubbing in over 80 languages, allowing companies to localise their content more efficiently.

The content management and optimisation solutions will include the AI Metadata Optimizer, designed to transform content libraries into searchable, AI-optimised data sets. This will help make content more discoverable and monetizable, reducing the manual effort involved in tagging and sorting through large amounts of content.

The AI Engagement Maximizer will introduce capabilities such as AI-powered video interactivity, personalisation, and recommendations to deepen audience engagement and foster loyalty. Brightcove is also developing an AI Revenue Maximizer, which will automate ad placements and durations to maximise revenue without impacting viewer satisfaction.

For quality and efficiency, the AI Cost-to-Quality Optimizer aims to lower the costs of encoding, storage, and content delivery while maintaining high-quality viewer experiences. This solution will leverage Brightcove’s Context Aware Encoding technology, delivery engine, and Quality of Experience insights benchmarks to manage costs based on chosen quality levels.

Brightcove’s AI Suite initiative is already being tested with more than a dozen customers, including Management Leadership for Tomorrow, Major League Fishing, Italiaonline, and OneValley. The company is extending its AI pilot program to all customers at no additional cost for a limited time.

Scott Levine, Chief Product Officer at Brightcove, emphasised the importance of data security in the new AI Suite.

"As a trusted partner to more than 2,000 global customers, we are also launching the Brightcove AI Pledge: a commitment to securely handling customer data with transparency and responsibility. Part of our differentiation will be our ability to advance Generative AI securely, protecting our customers' most valuable assets," he stated.
