Confluent lauded in IDC MarketScape reports for data streaming prowess

Wed, 17th Apr 2024

The data streaming operator Confluent has been recognised as a Leader in two influential IDC MarketScape reports. Confluent secured this trusted statusoth the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Analytic Stream Processing Software 2024 Vendor Assessment and the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Event Brokering Software 2024 Vendor Assessment. This acknowledgement speaks to the growing importance of real-time data streaming technology in achieving both strategic and operational goals within businesses. These include the acceleration of real-time AI applications and supporting infrastructure for real-time payments.

Shaun Clowes, Chief Product Officer at Confluent, expressed his belief that the reported ranking is a testament to the recognition of data streaming platforms in the contemporary market. He suggested that, "From critical use cases like accelerating the development of real-time AI applications to real-time payments, companies rely increasingly on Confluent to deliver trustworthy data across their organisation."

Apache Kafka, the most successful open-source technology for data streaming, leads the data streaming movement. Its use is widespread, with 75% of Fortune 500 companies making it their choice of platform. Confluent is positioned to cater to a wide range of Kafka use-case requirements, providing resources needed to implement quickly, securely and reliably. It offers the only platform that streams, connects, processes and governs real-time data. Its services enable organisations to dismantle data barriers, providing easy access to and reuse of data streams for numerous use cases.

The IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Analytic Stream Processing Software 2024 Vendor Assessment states, "As a data streaming platform, Confluent Cloud seeks to serve the needs of a large pool of potential customers through a broad coverage approach."

The platform is designed to remove any complications in implementing and operating Kafka infrastructure, connectors, processing, and governance. It is also infused with predictive AI, interpretive AI, and generative AI, which cater to a wide range of potential use cases within each of these three categories.

Highlights of Confluent's assessed strengths include the extensive set of stream intelligence capabilities it has developed for stream governance. Its services support event discovery, runtime schema validation, and stream lineage capability, in addition to the ability to tag sensitive event data. These features contribute to improving the quality of data, stream tracing, and compliance. Additionally, Confluent boasts a diverse range of global channels, implementation and technology partners and is available across all public clouds, including Amazon Web Services, Azure, GCP, Alibaba, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and the IBM Cloud.

The IDC MarketScape for Event Brokering Software 2024 Vendor Assessment notes that Confluent Cloud provides numerous event processing capabilities that create a solid foundation for a general-purpose model. These capabilities include event routing, event transformation, event filtering, load balancing, and event replay. The platform can convert natural language into SQL-based pipelines that execute on the Cloud. It is flexible and allows for a change between vendors with ease.

Further to this, Confluent Cloud maintains strong analytical and operational capabilities, supports a wide range of features and recently expanded AI-focused partnerships with MongoDB, Pinecone, Rockset, Weaviate, and Zilliz. The platform sets itself apart from competitors with the number of out-of-the-box capabilities offered, including in-demand monitoring and security capabilities, providing Confluent with a considerable competitive advantage.
