Cornerstone acquires SkyHive to enhance workforce agility solutions

Thu, 23rd May 2024

Cornerstone, a leader in Workforce Agility solutions, has announced the acquisition of workforce skills intelligence capabilities and a team of domain experts from SkyHive Technologies. SkyHive's solutions enable organisations to become skills-based and provide visibility into workforce capabilities. This acquisition aims to bolster Cornerstone's existing offerings and help customers build agile, future-ready workforces.

The acquisition includes SkyHive’s AI-powered skills intelligence platform and services, which assist customers in building skills-based organisations. The platform provides visibility into employee capabilities and supports organisational transformation efforts. It is expected to enhance Cornerstone's reskilling capabilities with features like predictive labour market intelligence, automated job architecture management, and rapid skill proficiency detection.

SkyHive's platform aligns with Cornerstone’s commitment to openness and extensibility by offering integration and normalisation for other skills-centric talent applications. This approach simplifies customer technology stacks and improves time-to-value. By parsing terabytes of global workforce, labour market, and economic data daily, SkyHive provides real-time granular visibility into the global labour economy and forecasts emerging critical skills, assisting organisations in predicting future needs.

Complementary to Cornerstone’s existing solutions, including the recently announced Cornerstone Talent Intelligence, SkyHive's data-rich platform will streamline any organisation's journey towards a dynamic skills-oriented approach, aiming to close the workforce readiness gap. According to recent research, less than half (45%) of employers are aware of existing skills gaps and fully leverage them in their talent development strategies. This lack of skills awareness combined with the inability to take action highlights the workforce readiness gap that Cornerstone aims to resolve.

Himanshu Palsule, CEO of Cornerstone, stated, "People are at the centre of everything that powers an organisation—from its competitive advantage to its ability to stay agile. But without a clear grasp on the skills landscape, organisations cannot train, empower or effectively activate their people to adapt to changing business needs." He added that with SkyHive's AI-powered technology and access to extensive labour market data, Cornerstone would accelerate its vision of helping customers build skills-based organisations.

Sean Hinton and Mohan Reddy, Co-Founders of SkyHive, remarked, “For Cornerstone and SkyHive, our founding missions align and point towards a shared north star of educating and reskilling the world, so much so that it feels as though we were meant to come together." They emphasised that a skills-centric approach is the future, and together with Cornerstone, they are excited to bring this approach to a broader audience and build upon this future jointly.

This announcement follows the launch of Cornerstone Galaxy at Cornerstone’s Connect Live events, which are touring internationally. The events aim to extend skills learning with SkyHive and promote workforce agility within organisations.

Legal advisory for the acquisition was provided by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich Rosati for SkyHive and Sidley Austin for Cornerstone.

Cornerstone continues to power the potential of organisations and their people to thrive in a changing world. Its platform, Cornerstone Galaxy, supports organisations by identifying skills gaps, retaining and engaging top talent, and providing diverse learning experiences.
