Freshworks acquires Device42, enhancing IT asset management

Wed, 12th Jun 2024

Freshworks has recently announced the successful acquisition of Device42, a company known for providing detailed and continuously updated views of assets across an organisation’s IT infrastructure.

This acquisition is an important development for Freshworks, highlighting its dedication to providing comprehensive IT Asset Management (ITAM) solutions.

In today's fast-paced digital environment, IT teams are critical in driving business value, with agility and promptness being essential for success. The integration of Freshworks and Device42 solutions promises customers a unified platform that enhances both IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITAM capabilities. It will offer advanced asset discovery and application dependency mapping, thus enabling businesses to better anticipate risks and address incidents more rapidly.

Dennis Woodside, CEO of Freshworks, commented on the milestone by stating, "This move reinforces our position in the ITSM market and shows our commitment to delivering value to IT teams worldwide. By combining our offerings with Device42's, we're even better positioned to meet the needs of both Freshworks and Device42 customers and partners to drive innovation in IT asset management."

Raj Jalan, CEO of Device42, echoed these sentiments, adding, "Historically, we’ve partnered with Freshworks to provide industry-leading IT Infrastructure discovery and mapping, a win-win for customers and partners. This acquisition represents a significant step forward in delivering more comprehensive IT solutions that empower organisations to optimise IT operations and drive business success. We are also excited about Freshworks AI focus as that aligns with our strategy to deliver added value faster to our customers."

Once the integration is complete, IT and operations teams will benefit from a single, integrated platform that offers a reliable source of data on IT assets. This unified system will enable users to predict potential issues, automate the remediation of critical IT services, and provide stronger support for both customers and employees. The platform also aims to optimise delivery costs and mitigate risks to essential services.

Snow Tempest, Research Manager at IDC, commented on the industry's reception of this development, "Unifying advanced asset management capabilities with robust ITOM (IT Operations Management) and ITSM offerings is in high demand. Teams are pushing to better understand their IT landscape for greater efficiency in service delivery and reliability in IT operations. This presents significant opportunities for customers of all sizes."

Freshworks’ acquisition of Device42 exemplifies the company's ongoing strategy to build a comprehensive suite of IT management tools. This move is anticipated to provide substantial benefits to IT teams by enhancing their ability to manage and optimise their infrastructure effectively. The commitment to integrating AI within these solutions further underlines Freshworks' drive to offer cutting-edge technologies that expedite value delivery to customers.
