Daon wins Frost & Sullivan recognition for biometric model

Daon has received Frost & Sullivan's 2026 Technology Innovation Leadership Recognition in the global biometric solutions industry for its Identity Continuity model.

Lifecycle identity

According to Frost & Sullivan, the model verifies identity across the customer lifecycle rather than only at login. Its analysis found that fraud is increasingly occurring between isolated identity checks, including through synthetic identities, deepfakes, presentation attacks and account takeover.

Daon's approach begins by establishing a single customer identity at onboarding, then rechecking that identity at later points of risk. Those points can include authentication, account recovery, contact centre interactions, workforce access and step-up verification.

The recognition comes as identity vendors face pressure to show that authentication tools can counter fraud attempts that move across channels and touchpoints. Frost & Sullivan argued that verification, authentication and fraud prevention can no longer be treated as separate events.

In its assessment, the research firm highlighted Daon's use of multiple identity signals rather than a single source. Face, voice, document and device intelligence are combined, with liveness detection and deepfake defence applied when data is captured.

The system is designed to work across mobile, web, contact centre, kiosk and in-person interactions. Frost & Sullivan linked the approach to Daon's background in biometric science and contrasted it with providers that added biometric functions to broader workflow or compliance products.

Independent testing

Independent testing also featured in the evaluation. Daon said that in August 2025 its facial image quality assessment algorithm ranked first out of 57 entries in the NIST Face Analysis Technology Evaluation Quality test.

In what it described as the critical 5% scenario, Daon said the algorithm recorded a false non-match rate of 0.0030. The company added that the system removes poor-quality images to improve face matching, liveness detection, watchlist screening and fraud analysis.

Frost & Sullivan also referred to Daon's ISO/IEC 42001 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System. The analysis said the certification reflected a developed approach to model governance, monitoring, risk assessment and continuous improvement.

Global scale

Scale was another factor in the review. Daon said it serves about 900 customers across six continents, secures more than 2 billion identities and supports more than 250 million authentications each day.

Its customer base spans financial services, telecommunications, government, healthcare, travel and hospitality, as well as workforce and consumer identity uses. These sectors have become a key testing ground for systems that must handle both security demands and high volumes of customer interactions.

Industry recognition

"In a market where many vendors compete on workflow breadth or dataset scale, Daon's stronger claim is that it improves the reliability of identity assurance itself, supported by a deep intellectual property portfolio with hundreds of patents," said Tobias Folatelli, Research Analyst, Security, Frost & Sullivan.
