DataStax expands strategic partnership with Google Cloud

Thu, 11th Apr 2024

DataStax, known for generative artificial intelligence (AI) data solutions, is expanding its strategic partnership with Google Cloud to streamline the path to production for enterprise generative AI and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) applications. The latest integration will empower developers to interface models with thousands of apps, APIs, and legacy data sources to create production-ready enterprise-level generative AI applications.

The company announced its innovative integrations with API extensions to Google Cloud's Vertex AI Extension and Vertex AI Search. These integrations simplify the process of utilising data from hundreds or even thousands of existing enterprise applications and data sources. As a pioneering collaborator with Google Cloud, DataStax is dedicated to developing new integrations within the Vertex AI platform to simplify the linking of generative AI models with existing code, data, and APIs.

The integrations support Vertex AI within RAGStack, bolstering the capabilities of DataStax's Astra DB. This will allow developers employing JavaScript, Python, C#, and other full-stack development languages to seamlessly leverage their data for generative AI and RAG applications within the Google Cloud AI ecosystem. Fashion Buddy, a fashion recommendation app, and NoSQL Assistant, a customer support chatbot, are two such applications developed by DataStax using these integrations.

Additionally, Astra DB's new integration with Vertex AI Search offers a no-code solution to RAG application development by streamlining the orchestration of AI applications. Enterprise-ready solutions can now more easily retain control over data and applications while ensuring data privacy and security. Enterprises are certain to appreciate the simplicity brought to their generative AI application development process and the robust controls provided for security and transparency — including Identity and Access Management permissions, access transparency, customer-managed encryption keys, and Virtual Private Cloud security.

Ritika Suri, Director of Technology Partnerships at Google Cloud, avers that generative AI can help organisations extract substantial value from their data: "By utilising Google Cloud's technology, DataStax can help customers better connect and optimise the data needed for enterprise-grade generative AI applications."

To illustrate the benefits of the collaboration, Ed Anuff, CPO at DataStax, emphasised the importance given to developers in this partnership. "Offering these integrations underscores our determination to provide developers with the most advanced tools in the generative AI ecosystem," he stated.

Priceline's CTO, Martin Brodbeck, praised the Astra DB integration with Vertex AI for facilitating generative AI application development: "DataStax's Astra DB integration with Vertex AI simplifies GenAI app creation and provides rapid responses, global scalability, and resilience. We're excited to unlock the full potential of this partnership as we continue to enhance real-time personalised recommendations for our customers."
