Devart adds AI Assistant & wider support in dbForge 2025.3
Devart has released dbForge 2025.3, updating its dbForge tools for database development and administration with new AI features in SQL Complete and broader support for current database and IDE versions.
The release adds an AI Assistant to dbForge SQL Complete, an add-in for SQL Server Management Studio used for SQL Server development. Devart has also expanded compatibility across its add-ins for SSMS 22 and updated integrations for Visual Studio 2026. The company said dbForge 2025.3 also supports MySQL 9.5, MariaDB 12.2, Oracle Database 26i, and AWS RDS Proxy with caching_sha2_password authentication.
AI In SSMS
Devart has integrated dbForge AI Assistant into SQL Complete. The product runs inside SSMS and provides assistance during query writing and review.
Devart listed natural language conversion into SQL, contextual query generation, and query optimisation and troubleshooting among the functions. It also includes SQL syntax explanations, analysis of query execution errors, and an AI chat interface for database and SQL topics. Devart said SQL Complete includes built-in web search for current information and integrates with multiple dbForge solutions, including SQL Complete.
"With dbForge AI Assistant in SQL Complete, teams can write SQL faster, troubleshoot queries more accurately, and get instant insights - all without leaving SSMS," said Victor Horlenko, Head of AI Innovations at Devart.
Platform Updates
Devart positioned the update as a compatibility release for teams moving to newer database versions and development environments. The company said dbForge add-ins now have full compatibility with SSMS 22.
SQL Complete now integrates with Visual Studio 2026, according to Devart. The company said this integration includes smart code completion and AI features.
For database engines, Devart said dbForge 2025.3 adds support for MySQL 9.5 and MariaDB 12.2. It also adds support for Oracle Database 26i.
Devart also pointed to connectivity updates. The company said dbForge 2025.3 supports AWS RDS Proxy with caching_sha2_password authentication.
Design And Tuning
Devart said dbForge 2025.3 includes changes for database design and performance analysis in complex environments. The company has added Object Search in Database Diagrams. Devart said the feature locates tables, relationships, notes, stamps, and containers inside large ER diagrams.
Devart also introduced visual execution plan diagrams for MySQL queries. The company said the feature converts EXPLAIN output into visual diagrams and assists identification of performance bottlenecks.
SQL Parsing
Devart said the release expands SQL parsing, validation, formatting, and code completion across supported databases.
For PostgreSQL and Redshift, Devart listed added support for WITH clauses, MERGE, and expanded handling of SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements. Devart also said the update adds full support for RETURNING expressions, cursors, and advanced conflict-handling logic.
For MySQL, Devart said the update improves syntax validation and adds support for SHOW BINARY LOG STATUS.
For Oracle, Devart said the release adds syntax check support for SQL_MACRO functions, including SCALAR and TABLE, plus pipelined table functions.
Interface Changes
Devart said dbForge 2025.3 includes interface updates aimed at everyday development work in large scripts and shared codebases.
The company has added scrollbar annotations for navigation in large scripts. Devart also added automatic wrapping of selected text with quotes, brackets, or parentheses.
Devart said identifier formatting options now include camelCase, Capitalized, and PascalCase. The company also said the update keeps backward compatibility with existing formatting profiles.
Broader Suite
Alongside the dbForge 2025.3 update, Devart highlighted dbForge Edge for teams working across multiple database engines. Devart described dbForge Edge as a multi-database package combining dbForge Studios for SQL Server, MySQL and MariaDB, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
Horlenko said the wider release has a focus on workflow changes across common database tooling. "dbForge 2025.3 transforms database workflows, making them smarter, faster, and more accurate," said Horlenko.
