Nadene Serman, Global CTO at InfoTrack, has shared her insights on driving innovation, bolstering cybersecurity, and advocating for women in STEM, in an exclusive interview with TechDay.

InfoTrack has been a beacon of innovation within the technology sector for over two decades. At the heart of this success is Nadene Serman, the Global Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Recently nominated for Female Cyber Security Leader of the Year, Serman is a passionate advocate for women in STEM and a key driver of InfoTrack’s continued growth and excellence.

"As an industry leader within the technology space, InfoTrack’s core mission is to innovate. We are invested in helping professionals to modernise their practices, by alleviating challenges and supporting them to explore new opportunities for growth and profitability," Serman explains.

InfoTrack's reach is extensive, operating in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and New Zealand. The company has 400+ employees in the Australasian region alone. "InfoTrack has been at the forefront helping businesses capitalize on technical innovation for 20+ years," Serman notes.

Under Serman’s leadership, InfoTrack has made significant strides in cybersecurity. "I really enjoy the challenge of spearheading first-of-its-kind technology and have helped InfoTrack reach new heights of innovation within cyber security," she says. One of her notable achievements includes bolstering InfoTrack’s Global Security team and overall security posture to ensure the company is well-equipped to manage any challenge.

Business transformation is a key aspect of Serman’s strategy. She emphasizes the importance of winning hearts and minds to ensure every department understands that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. "We now work more effectively together to mitigate threats, manage risk and ensure compliance," Serman asserts.

Serman’s collaborative and supportive leadership style has been instrumental in strengthening InfoTrack’s cyber resilience.

"I am a collaborative and supportive leader who prioritises clarity and transparency for best results. I enjoy bringing people together across multi-layered technologies and pushing the limits to see what’s possible," she describes.

One of Serman’s significant contributions is leading a company-wide cyber assessment to evaluate InfoTrack’s strengths and weaknesses. She has also advanced InfoTrack’s ISO certification and implemented a ‘shift left’ mentality by introducing static application security testing to detect risks early.

In addition to her technical achievements, Serman is a passionate advocate for women in STEM.

"We need more women in STEM. They have such diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and really want to drive the industry forward. I enjoy mentoring other women in the industry and am part of InfoTrack’s Internal Women in Technology Group," she shares.

InfoTrack’s suite of over 4,500 products includes verification of identity, electronic signing, settlement services, searches, and certificates. These solutions enable clients to find, analyse, organise, and communicate information efficiently. "InfoTrack continues to evolve our products and services to further our overall goal of digital transformation across the professional industries," Serman notes.

The company’s commitment to innovation is evident in its use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. "InfoTrack is always investing in innovation….from capitalising on artificial intelligence to boost efficiency to deliver a more intuitive experience across workflows, to demonstrating a commitment to quality by upholding the highest level of security when it comes to our clients’ data," Serman highlights.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the shift to hybrid work have significantly impacted InfoTrack’s clients, but the company has been well-placed to assist them.

"During the constant uncertainty of the pandemic many services that people had come to rely on were no longer as easy or accessible. This was a crucial time when clients turned to InfoTrack, as leading industry experts in the area of digital innovation, to assist them in transforming their manual processes," Serman explains.

InfoTrack’s adaptability has been a key factor in its success. "InfoTrack’s clients know and trust that our solutions have the adaptability required to operate a modern business," Serman states. The company’s investment in research and development allows it to build solutions that alleviate challenges and enable clients to explore new opportunities for growth and profitability.

InfoTrack has also forged strong partnerships with well-known and trusted industry partners, enabling seamless digital connections within clients’ businesses. "InfoTrack integrates with many well-known and trusted industry partners. This allows our clients to make seamless digital connections within their business, ultimately bringing simplicity through greater efficiency and productivity," Serman says.

Looking to the future, Serman is optimistic about InfoTrack’s trajectory. "As the Global Chief Technology Officer, I am a key protagonist of innovation and an enabler of InfoTrack’s next stage growth. I am focused on solidifying InfoTrack’s cyber security position, so that we have the expertise and support available to innovate and expand," she concludes.

InfoTrack’s continued growth and commitment to innovation, under the guidance of leaders like Nadene Serman, ensure that it remains a pioneer in the technology sector, setting new standards for cybersecurity, digital transformation, and inclusivity in STEM.
