Genetec enhances Cloudrunner with advanced ALPR mapping tools

Genetec has announced new interactive mapping features in its AutoVu Cloudrunner system, aimed at giving law enforcement and security professionals more powerful tools to visualise and analyse vehicle data.

The enhancements, which include the newly introduced Report Map and Device Map functionalities, are designed to offer users an intuitive geographic interface for examining Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) information.

This development is intended to help improve both the efficiency and reach of vehicle-centric investigations.

The new Device Map enables investigators to view the locations of all Cloudrunner cameras connected around a given investigation site.

If access to a camera in a critical location is missing, users can now initiate a request to form a third-party partnership directly from the map interface. This functionality is intended to bolster collaboration between law enforcement, businesses, and other security stakeholders.

According to Genetec, the goal is to streamline the sharing of data and improve operational coordination.

"This seamless process strengthens collaboration between law enforcement agencies, businesses, and security stakeholders, expanding investigative reach and enhancing overall security efforts," the company said in a written statement.

Meanwhile, the Report Map feature gives users another way to visualise vehicle activity.

It allows for the narrowing of searches based on a specific geographic area. Investigators can quickly identify where ALPR reads and hits have occurred, track movement patterns, and assess vehicle behaviours such as frequency and common travel routes.

The tool also offers advanced filtering options based on vehicle characteristics like colour, make, and partial number plates. This, according to Genetec, provides valuable contextual insights that help uncover movement trends and potential crime hotspots.

"With Cloudrunner's new mapping tools, law enforcement, security directors, and loss prevention officers can quickly extract meaningful insights and act decisively," said Larry Legere, Commercial Director at Genetec.

"Whether investigating a crime in a dense urban area or tracking a vehicle of interest across jurisdictions, the new Cloudrunner mapping features provide them with a visual perspective to better understand the situation and plan an appropriate course of action."

These latest updates are now available to AutoVu Cloudrunner users across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Genetec has confirmed that customers in these regions can access the new features "immediately" without incurring additional costs or requiring any further setup.

AutoVu Cloudrunner is a vehicle-centric investigative system that supports law enforcement in identifying vehicles of interest through cloud-based ALPR data.

The addition of the Report Map and Device Map tools marks a continued effort by Genetec to expand the system's capabilities and improve the user experience for public safety professionals.
