HCLTech, OpenAI launch AI partnership for global firms

Today

HCLTech has announced a multi-year strategic collaboration with OpenAI to support widespread adoption of artificial intelligence across global enterprises.

The agreement will allow HCLTech clients to utilise OpenAI's range of artificial intelligence products as part of their business operations. As part of the collaboration, HCLTech will incorporate OpenAI's models and solutions into its service offerings, technical capabilities, and proprietary platforms designed for industries such as financial services, manufacturing, life sciences, high tech, telecom, and more.

Scope of collaboration

According to HCLTech, the collaboration builds on its existing expertise in AI engineering and industry-focused solutions. By embedding OpenAI's technologies, HCLTech aims to help clients modernise business processes, improve both customer and employee experiences, and identify new opportunities for growth.

Clients will have access to a full suite of services, from AI readiness assessments to integration, governance, and change management for enterprise-scale adoption of AI. Key HCLTech platforms scheduled for integration with OpenAI models include AI Force, AI Foundry, AI Engineering, and specific industry accelerators.

Alongside these external initiatives, HCLTech will deploy ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI APIs internally. The objective is to provide its workforce of over 223,000 employees with secure and enterprise-grade generative AI tools to improve productivity and internal processes.

Leadership comments

Describing the collaboration, Vijay Guntur, Global Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems at HCLTech, stated:

"We are honored to work with OpenAI, the global leader in generative AI foundation models. This collaboration underscores our commitment to empowering Global 2000 enterprises with transformative AI solutions. It reaffirms HCLTech's robust engineering heritage and aligns with OpenAI's spirit of innovation. Together, we are driving a new era of AI-powered transformation across our offerings and operations at a global scale."

Giancarlo 'GC' Lionetti, Chief Commercial Officer at OpenAI, commented on HCLTech's selection as a partner:

"HCLTech's deep industry knowledge and AI engineering expertise sets the stage for scalable AI innovation. As one of the first system integration companies to integrate OpenAI to improve efficiency and enhance customer experiences, they're accelerating productivity and setting a new standard for how industries can transform using generative AI."

Platform integration

HCLTech's platforms AI Force, AI Foundry, and AI Engineering will become vehicles for deploying OpenAI models into client environments. The company's proprietary industry accelerators will also be updated to support integration, providing industry-specific enhancements for clients in sectors including telecommunications, healthcare, and consumer goods.

The collaboration will enable clients to adopt generative AI across the AI lifecycle, starting from readiness assessment, progressing to targeted integration and ending with ongoing scale and governance. The in-house rollout of ChatGPT Enterprise aims to familiarise the workforce with generative AI, supporting both daily operations and business innovation.

Company context

HCLTech reported consolidated revenues of USD $13.8 billion for the twelve-month period ending early 2025, with global operations in 60 countries. Through the partnership, HCLTech will offer OpenAI's technology stack to its broad client base, including firms in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, high tech, semiconductors, and public services.

OpenAI's technology is positioned to become a foundational element in HCLTech's solutions across markets in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and other regions. Both companies expect the collaboration to contribute to more rapid and secure adoption of artificial intelligence by enterprises seeking to navigate ongoing digital transformation.
