ICT solutions provider Huawei has been named winner in two categories at the LTE Asia Awards, taking out first place in the Biggest Contribution to 5G Development category and jointly winning the Best Innovation in Heterogeneous Networks" award alongside Singapore firm StarHub.

Huawei says the Biggest Contribution to 5G Development award recognises the company's efforts in defining 5G standards, providing critical foundations for development of 5G technologies.

Huawei firmly believes in an evolutionary business strategy that protects and maximises the potential for 4G investments, and also cultivates market demand for 5G, the company says in a statement.

"The regional awards are recognition of Huawei's contribution to the industry and of a successful industry partnership," says Lim Chee Siong, chief marketing officer of Huawei Southern Pacific.

With this development, Siong says operators will be able to expand their leadership in wider markets over the years to come. “Apart from contributing market leading vision and insights, Huawei has influenced the industry by accelerating the standardisation of 5G, providing and verifying key technologies, exploring new markets, and planning commercial launches,” Siong says.

"We will continue to focus on technology innovation and commercial deployment initiatives to help operators meet the varying needs of their customers,” adds Siong.

“Huawei will also continue its efforts to establish a global unified standard and achieve a win-win industry chain in close collaboration with the whole industry."
