Infor & AWS partner to enhance GenAI in Infor CloudSuite

Tue, 27th Aug 2024

Cloud software leader Infor has chosen Amazon Bedrock to power generative AI (GenAI) solutions within its Infor CloudSuite. This move aims to speed up customer value, deepening Infor's 11-year relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The collaboration has been lauded for extending Infor solutions through various AWS services over the years.

Infor announced that through this partnership, customers would gain access to 60 additional use cases by the end of the year. These include innovations designed to save time on administrative tasks for frontline staff, accelerate product launches, simplify project management, and support global teams within process-centric industries.

Soma Somasundaram, CTO of Infor, stated, "Infor is on a mission to democratise AI by making it accessible to all our customers, regardless of the size of their organisation or the technical resources they employ. Our goal is to build products that deliver transformative technologies directly to those who benefit most—the front-line people using Infor solutions." He also emphasised that just providing the tools for applying GenAI is insufficient. "Our Industry AI approach combines both the tools and deep industry capability and expertise to collaboratively work with customers to build and offer solutions that drive real value," he added.

Infor has already released numerous predictive and prescriptive AI solutions through its Augmented Intelligence Service. These solutions have been credited with helping customers improve operational efficiencies, increase revenue, enhance customer satisfaction, and predict future demand. All these capabilities are built using AWS services such as Amazon SageMaker. With Amazon Bedrock now at the centre of its generative AI advancements, Infor aims to further enhance these offerings.

Examples of the new capabilities include aiding frontline staff like nurses in saving time on administrative tasks such as scheduling. The solution automatically identifies shift coverage alternatives based on various criteria like skills, certifications, and availability. Another use case involves accelerating product launches by generating multiple descriptions for items across e-commerce sites or catalogues, allowing customers to publish preferred descriptions with a single click.

In project management, particularly in industries like aerospace and defence, the new AI solutions will offer automated executive summaries that provide overall project status, identify issues such as delays and cost overruns, and suggest actionable recommendations to get a project back on track. Meanwhile, global teams in process-centric sectors like automotive and high-tech electronics can quickly translate business process email templates, modify them, and deploy the translated templates for consistent messaging across global organisations.

Matt Wood, Vice President of AI Products at AWS, commented on the collaboration: "AWS has worked closely with Infor over the last 11 years and we’ve seen their commitment to deliver value to customers. Their industry expertise combined with Amazon Bedrock will make it easy and cost-effective for Infor customers of any size to take advantage of generative AI in their daily workflows, all while taking advantage of built-in security to deploy applications safely and responsibly."

Infor encourages businesses to join them on this transformative journey, leveraging AI to drive efficiency, innovation, and growth.
