Infosys & NVIDIA expand AI tech to revolutionise telecom

Fri, 30th Aug 2024

Infosys has announced an expansion of its collaboration with NVIDIA to develop a suite of generative AI-powered solutions specifically designed for the telecommunications sector. This new initiative leverages Infosys Topaz and NVIDIA NIMs technologies to drive innovation and operational excellence for telecom companies.

The newly introduced solutions include TOSCA Network Service Design, Smart Networking Operating Centre, and Infosys Cortex. Each of these offerings aims to enhance various aspects of telecom operations, from network design to customer service.

TOSCA Network Service Design is designed to streamline the network service design process. Utilising NVIDIA's generative AI technologies, the solution promises a 28% reduction in latency and a 15% improvement in accuracy. The use of NVIDIA NIM and NeMo Retriever microservices is key to these advancements.

The Smart Networking Operating Centre aims to improve the speed and accuracy of issue resolution for network engineers and operations personnel. Powered by NVIDIA's generative AI, this solution is reported to reduce latency by 61% and improve accuracy by 22%. The implementation of these technologies is expected to significantly enhance customer experience.

Infosys Cortex focuses on transforming contact centre training by creating realistic customer simulations. Leveraging Infosys Topaz and the cloud suite Infosys Cobalt, Infosys Cortex aims to provide an immersive environment for trainee agents to practice their skills. This solution is anticipated to bring benefits in operational efficiencies and productivity improvement.

Anand Swaminathan, EVP & Global Industry Leader - Communications, Media and Technology at Infosys, remarked, "Through our collaboration with NVIDIA, we are poised to unlock cutting-edge enterprise AI capabilities, helping global organisations improve business efficiency. By integrating NVIDIA's advanced AI technologies with Infosys Topaz, we aim to transform network service design, NOC operations, and contact centre functionalities. It will also help ensure the safe and responsible deployment of AI. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to drive innovation and operational excellence for our customers."

Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, also commented on the collaboration's impact, stating, "Telcos are increasingly adopting generative AI solutions to improve the productivity of their businesses with smarter networks, more efficient operations, and enhanced customer service. Leveraging NVIDIA's full-stack accelerated computing and AI platform, Infosys Topaz is delivering a suite of domain-specific solutions that will help telcos accelerate and streamline their adoption of generative AI."

Infosys developed these three generative AI solutions using NVIDIA NIM inference microservices, NeMo Retriever embedding models, and NeMo Guardrails. Additionally, Infosys Topaz utilises NVIDIA Riva for building real-time conversational AI pipelines that enable real-time transcription and translations for call centre agents.

The new suite of AI-driven solutions is part of Infosys' broader strategy to enhance customer experiences, streamline network operations, and accelerate service delivery for telecom operators. By integrating advanced AI technologies, the collaboration aims to offer significant operational efficiencies and improved service quality.
