FYI, this story is more than a year old

Intel has announced a new partnership with Databricks to empower customers to improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency in data management operations. This collaboration will provide customers with the capability to continuously and securely optimise large-scale Databricks workloads while reducing cloud infrastructure costs without any alteration in existing codes.

Intel's flagship software performance offering, Intel Granulate, will integrate with Databricks. Intel Granulate's autonomous, continuous optimisation solutions will combine with Databricks' robust Data Intelligence Platform under the Databricks Partner Program. This collaboration is designed to help customers achieve greater scalability, enhance performance, curtail costs, and increase efficiency across data management operations.

Asaf Ezra, Co-Founder and General Manager of Intel Granulate, expresses that the Databricks platform marks a noteworthy advancement in the performance of Spark SQL. He highlights that when Intel Granulate's distinctive orchestration and tuning capabilities are integrated with Databricks, the benefits in terms of performance and cost for data engineers experience a substantial increase, contributing to a more efficient and cost-effective future for analytics workloads.

Asaf Ezra remarks: "The Databricks platform represents a significant leap toward the performant future of Spark SQL. When combined with the unique orchestration and tuning abilities that Intel Granulate provides for analytics workloads, data engineers' performance and cost benefits grow significantly."

Intel Granulate, known for its ability to reduce cloud costs by 20% and decrease response times by an average of 35%, stands at the forefront of autonomous, application-level performance enhancement. It does not require code changes or manual engineering effort. As a primary product in Intel's enterprise software portfolio, Intel Granulate consistently showcases visible results in as little as one to three weeks.

Databricks facilitates an open approach to data sharing, allowing teams to collaborate across platforms while securing and governing live datasets, models, dashboards and notebooks. It unifies data teams, streamlines data ingestion and management, and ensures that data lakes seamlessly manage all structured, semi-structured,d and unstructured data. Further, it forms the foundation of Databricks' native machine-learning capabilities.

Databricks' platform becomes more cost-effective when combined with Intel Granulate's runtime optimisation and orchestration capabilities. This leads to more efficient data management and engineering while simultaneously reducing response times and ensuring rapid, reliable, and secure data applications for users.

Intel Granulate envisions a future where data management and sharing are open and collaborative and characterised by unmatched performance and cost efficiency.

Databricks was founded in 2013 by the original creators of Apache Spark, Delta Lake and MLflow. As the world's first and only lakehouse platform in the cloud, Databricks combines the best of data warehouses and data lakes to offer an open and unified platform for data and AI.

Combining Intel Granulate's autonomous optimisation capabilities with the available data management facilitated by the Databricks platform, this collaboration embodies a step towards this future vision.
