Is Dell about to turn its back on Microsoft?

Wed, 23rd Jun 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Amit Midha, Dell’s President for Greater China and South Asia, has openly said that the company is in talks with Google over using its Chrome operating system in future laptops rather than Microsoft’s Windows.

Google is expected to release its Chrome operating system towards the end of the year.

"We have to have a point of view on the industry and technology direction two years, three years down the road, so we continuously work with Google on this," Midha told Reuters. "There are going to be unique innovations coming up in the marketplace in two, three years, with a new form of computing, we want to be on that forefront ... So with Chrome or Android or anything like that we want to be one of the leaders."

Midha said that there were no announcements to be made but that talks were underway.
