MYOB updates platform for easier SMB user experience

Business management platform MYOB has unveiled an update aimed at making navigation simpler for small to medium-sized business (SMB) owners, as well as their accountants and bookkeepers.

The improvements to MYOB Business, and the MYOB Business AccountRight browser experience, include user-friendly terminology, a more intuitive interface, as well as a new shortcuts feature in the Help section.

These changes, which are available from today in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, respond directly to feedback from SMBs, accountants, and bookkeepers. Customers using MYOB Business Lite and Pro, and the MYOB Business AccountRight Plus and Premier browser, can expect a refreshed look and feel of the menu, simplifying navigation of the platform.

MYOB General Manager for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Emma Fawcett, believes the updates will make adopting business management technology a smoother process for small business owners. She suggests these alterations will also relieve accountants and bookkeepers from time-consuming onboarding and support tasks, allowing them to focus more on higher-value advisory.

"Most small business owners don't chase their dreams because they love doing the books. We want to help them reap the benefits that a business management platform can provide, without having to learn a whole new financial language," said Fawcett. She indicated that while many customers, particularly accountants and bookkeepers, are extremely financially literate, this isn't always the case with small business owners themselves. As a result, some of the more technical terms have been replaced with user-friendly terminology.

According to MYOB, the intention behind creating a more accessible platform is to free up time for accountants and the bookkeeping community, who currently spend substantial time assisting their clients navigate the platform. These changes enable them to focus more on providing expert knowledge and guidance. Fawcett maintained that the functionality itself has not changed and the solution continues to provide the best-in-class tools needed to run a small or medium sized business.

The update includes a refreshed look and feel of the menu to simplify navigation, more user-friendly and intuitive terminology to make it easier for customers to find what they need, and a new shortcuts feature in the Help section to enable faster trouble shooting.

"These improvements ensure small business owners will spend less time setting up and learning how to use the software and can immediately make use of the benefits that MYOB Business provides," Fawcett said.

Fawcett confirmed that the updates will be live in MYOB Business Lite, MYOB Business Pro, and the AccountRight Plus and AccountRight Premier browser apps from today in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Foundational to these improvements is the conviction that a more intuitive, simplified user-interface is an asset to the user experience, making essential business management tools accessible to a wider audience.
