Partners Life names Debbie Eyre as new Chief Operating Officer
Partners Life has appointed Debbie Eyre as Chief Operating Officer, with the role taking effect in February 2026.
Eyre joins the New Zealand life and health insurer after more than 25 years in senior leadership roles across banking, investments and insurance. Partners Life said she has held senior positions at Chubb Life and Cigna.
The company linked Eyre's background to operational change programmes. It cited work on operating models and technology platforms. It also referenced changes in customer and employee satisfaction measures.
Partners Life positioned the appointment as part of a broader focus on senior leadership hires. The company said the role will span multiple operational functions.
"I'm driven to make a real and lasting difference for employees, distribution partners, and customers. Partners Life stands out for its commitment to developing and maintaining lasting relationships, challenging convention, and doing the right thing - values that truly resonate with me. I'm energised by the opportunity to work alongside such a talented team, both here and across the wider Daiichi Life Group, as we shape a brighter, more secure future for our industry and all New Zealanders," said Debbie Eyre, Chief Operating Officer, Partners Life.
Operational remit
Partners Life said Eyre will have responsibility across claims, customer service, underwriting and new business. The company also highlighted its workplace culture as a continuing focus for the operating leadership team.
The appointment comes as insurers in New Zealand continue to face pressure from rising claims costs, ongoing regulatory scrutiny and higher customer expectations around service. Providers also continue to invest in system upgrades and process changes across underwriting and claims handling.
Partners Life Chief Executive Michael Weston said the company expects Eyre to play a central role as the business expands.
"Debbie's strategic vision and people-first leadership style are exactly what Partners Life needs as we continue to grow and evolve. Her proven ability to inspire teams and champion innovation will help us deliver on our purpose and bring the right protection to more New Zealanders. By attracting leaders of Debbie's calibre, we reinforce our position as an employer of choice and signal our intent to shape the future of insurance in New Zealand," said Michael Weston, Chief Executive Officer, Partners Life.
