Thu, 11th Jul 2024

Samsung has announced its latest wearable devices, the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, bringing advanced health monitoring and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to a wider audience.

According to Samsung, the new smartwatches are designed to offer comprehensive wellness experiences, building on the company's goal to enhance digital health through Galaxy AI.

"The latest additions to our wearables portfolio integrate Samsung’s most advanced technologies and innovations, enabling you to take control of your health and wellness with preventative healthcare solutions," President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, TM Roh, said.

"The intelligence, guidance, and insights that are offered with Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will help users turn data into meaningful insights and create a whole new era of expanded intelligent health experiences."

The Galaxy Watch7 aims to provide users with a holistic understanding of their daily wellness. It offers more than 100 workout tracking options and features such as Workout Routine to help achieve fitness goals. Additionally, the Race feature allows users to compare current and past performances in real time. Other health monitoring tools include Body Composition, Heart Rate monitoring, and Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring.

An enhanced BioActive Sensor in the Galaxy Watch7 is designed to offer increased accuracy in health monitoring. Notably, it can track advanced glycation end products (AGEs), providing insights into metabolic health and biological ageing.

The smartwatch is equipped with a 3nm Processor, which Samsung claims delivers a faster and more efficient wearable experience. The device also features a Dual-frequency GPS system for precise location tracking in urban environments, and it supports various new watch bands and watch faces for personalisation.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra, described as Samsung's most capable smartwatch, builds on the advanced health monitoring features of the Galaxy Watch7.

The device is designed for extreme durability with a Titanium Grade 4 frame and 10ATM water resistance. It includes a Multi-sports tile for triathlons, quick Functional Threshold Power (FTP) measurement for cycling, and a Personalised HR Zone for optimised workout intensity.

To ensure user safety, the Galaxy Watch Ultra comes with an Emergency Siren feature. Post-workout, users can view stats through dedicated watch faces that switch automatically to Night Mode for better readability in low light.

The watch also offers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits for visibility in direct sunlight. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Ultra has the longest battery life in the Galaxy Watch lineup, with up to 100 hours in Power Saving mode and 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving mode.

Both watches will be the first Android devices powered by the new Wear OS 5, which promises improved performance and power efficiency.

The Wear OS 5 platform will also provide access to a variety of apps, including those from Google and third-party developers.

The Galaxy Watch7 will be available in two sizes: 40mm in Green and Cream and 44mm in Green and Silver. The Galaxy Watch Ultra comes in a 47mm size and is available in Titanium Gray, Titanium White, and Titanium Silver.
